Ambie Abaño, born in Manila in 1967, transitioned from a career in architecture to become a prominent visual artist. She has gained recognition both locally and internationally for her extensive exhibitions. Abaño holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, and she furthered her studies with a Master in Fine Arts degree from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts in 2015. She has gained recognition both locally and internationally for her extensive exhibitions. Abaño currently holds a faculty position at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts.

Her artistic journey evolved from painting to printmaking, where she delved into the intricacies of portraiture within the context of materiality and process. This exploration has expanded beyond traditional two-dimensional prints to encompass sculptures, mixed media works, and installations, all rooted in the foundations of printmaking techniques. In 2006, she exhibited at the Ateneo Art Gallery as part of the A/P Analog Playground, showcasing her works on printmaking art and installation. Her extensive work on printmaking landed her the presidency of the Philippine Association of Printmakers from 2006 to 2012.
