Annie Cabigting, born in 1971 in Makati, Metro Manila is a Filipino artist known for her captivating exploration of appropriation within the realm of photorealistic paintings. As a child, Cabigting's artistic journey was ignited under the guidance of her mentor, Roberto Chabet, a prominent figure in Philippine contemporary art. Cabigting earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of the Philippines in 1994. After graduating, she pursued a career in the private sector, before returning to the art scene later on. At the urging of her mentor, Cabigting held her first exhibition in 2005 with 100 Pieces, an experimental piece based on Chabet’s earlier work Tearing Into Pieces.

Her unique style, photorealistic paintings, was first made through her 2006 work Navel. This piece depicts a woman viewing a painting by Poklong Andaing. This photorealist style of paintings has become Cabigting’s signature, creating numerous acclaimed works throughout her career.

Her works have been showcased in various exhibitions, both solo and group, across the Philippines and internationally. Cabigting is also multi-awarded, winning the Ateneo Art Awards in 2005 and was recognized as one of the three most prominent artists in the region by Leon Gallery's The Kingly Treasures Auction in 2021.
