Catalina Africa, a multi-disciplinary artist born in 1988 in Manila, Philippines. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of the Philippines in 2012. In her artworks, she has embraced shapeshifting as her primary mode of expression. Her creative endeavors span a diverse range of mediums, including painting, sound, sculpture, video, text, and performance, each serving as a conduit for her artistic vision. Drawing inspiration from the natural landscape, Africa's artworks take on the form of invocations—reminiscent of spells, songs, love letters, prayers, and maps—that bear witness to the mysteries and magic of the Earth.

Throughout her career, Catalina Africa has participated in numerous exhibitions in the Philippines and the world, including Phantasmapolis in Taiwan and the Art Fair Philippines. She has also been shortlisted twice in the Ateneo Art Awards in 2015 and 2017. She is currently based today in Baler, Aurora, where she lives alongside her child and husband. Here, Catalina has dedicated herself to spiritual practice, channeling the essence of the Earth through her art.
