Constancio Bernardo (b. 1913 - d. 2003) from Obando, Bulacan was a pioneering Filipino abstractionist known for his geometric and color-field paintings. Despite financial hardships, he persevered to complete his Diploma in Painting over the course of seven challenging years. In 1947, he began teaching at the UP School of Fine Arts while simultaneously pursuing his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, which he obtained in 1948. With the help of a recommendation from Fernando Amorsolo, he secured a UP Fellowship and a Fulbright Travel Grant to Yale University, where he earned a Yale 3-year Course Certificate in Painting (1949), followed by his BFA in 1951 and his Master of Fine Arts in 1952, both with honors.

After a comprehensive European study tour, he returned to serve as Secretary and later Assistant Dean of the UP School of Fine Arts, eventually retiring in 1978 after dedicating nearly 32 years to the university. However, retirement did not deter him from his artistic pursuits. He remained committed to his craft until his passing on August 8, 2003, with a steadfast focus on his ongoing projects.
