Danilo Dalena

Danilo Dalena (b. 1942) is a visual artist who worked as a political cartoonist for the Philippines Free Press and Asia Philippine Leader after graduating from the University of Sto Tomas in 1964. In the 1970s, he was one of the founding members of Shop 6 group started by Roberto Chabet. Influenced by social realism and impressionism, Dalena’s works comment on prevailing social conditions, depicting scenes of daily life in Quiapo, Cubao, and Pakil. He has received numerous awards from the Art Association of the Philippines and was a recipient of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Thirteen Artists Award in 1972.
