Lao Lianben (b. 1948) is a Filipino visual artist known for being the first artist who introduced the use of found objects and indigenous materials in assemblage. His works are commonly associated with the spirit and aesthetics of the Zen. Lao's process usually entails layering different textures, superimposed with found objects (usually from nature). To bring out the aura of meditative serenity, Lao’s technique includes substantiating soft tensions of flawed registry and vibrated lines.

He graduated from the University of the East with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. In 1973, he had his first solo exhibit at the Solidaridad Galleries. Lianben is a recipient of multiple awards including the Shell NSAC First Prize for Dead Birth in 1968, AAP Annual Honorable Mention for Tryst in 1976, Thirteen Artists Awards from the CCP in 1976, and a Mobil Art Award in 1983.
