In this ArtSpeak session, US-based Filipino photographer Geloy Concepcion discusses how his work has changed since moving to the US in 2017, as well as the importance of doing personal work in his artistic practice. Born and raised in Pandacan, Manila, Concepcion’s (b.1992) practice ranges from photography and videography to street art. His works explore his surroundings and roots, with a particular interest in documenting people and their stories. Prior to moving to the US, he worked as a professional photographer for various magazines and news agencies, and is currently doing freelance assignments.

This program is organized in line with “Project Belonging: From There to Here. The Familiar in the Foreign,” supported in part by a grant from Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), a state agency, and on-view from 9 November 2024 – 16 April 2025 at the Wilson L Sy Prints & Drawings Gallery, 2F Ateneo Art Gallery, Soledad V Pangilinan Arts Wing, Areté, Ateneo de Manila University.
