Join us for another ArtSpeak Online with one of leading contemporary artists, Poklong Anading, as he shares his process, inspirations, and stories about past and present projects.

Poklong Anading (b. 1975) is a contemporary artist based in Manila, Philippines. His work ranges from video, installation, photography, drawing, and painting, that often tackles issues of identity and society. His practice is often based on an interactive and conceptual approach involving the subject or the audience. In collaboration with Ateneo Art Gallery, Anading proposed the Shared Residence project in 2015, a collaborative art project that examines the notion of public and private spaces and communal ownership — from the artists to its prospective borrowers.

Poklong Anading graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in painting, and has been recognized for his works locally and internationally. He has participated in several Asian Biennials such as the Gwangju Biennale and Jakarta Biennale, and has participated in numerous exhibitions held in the US, Europe, and Asia. Anading’s works are also included in the permanent collection of the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, the Singapore Art Museum, and the Guggenheim Foundation in New York. He received the Thirteen Artists Awards from the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 2006 and was also a two-time recipient of the Ateneo Art Awards – Fernando Zóbel Prizes for Visual Art in 2006 and 2008.
