Ateneo Art Gallery and Kababaihan sa Sining at Bagong Sibol na Kamalayan (KASIBULAN) present “Pagkilala at Pagtugon,” an ArtSpeak session on the exhibit “Snare for Birds: Rereading the Colonial Archive” on 27 January 2024, Saturday, 10:00 AM. The program, to be moderated by visual artist Jing Sinay-Ocampo, will feature a conversation between KASIBULAN President Laura Fermo, and fellow visual artists LenLen, Yllang Montenegro, and Sandra Torrijos. The program will be preceded by a walkthrough of the exhibition by featured artist Kiri Dalena.

This ArtSpeak program is organized in line with “Snare for Birds: Rereading the Colonial Archive,” a collaborative research art project of Kiri Dalena, Lizza May David, and Jaclyn Reyes, curated by Marika Constantino and Iris Ferrer. “Snare for Birds: Rereading the Colonial Archive” is mounted with support from the Goethe-Institut Manila, Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum, co-presented with The Panublion Museum (Roxas City, Capiz), Alfredo F. Tadiar Library and Puón (San Fernando, La Union). The exhibition is on-view from 16 September 2023 – 17 February 2024 at the Wilson L Sy Prints and Drawings Gallery, 2F Ateneo Art Gallery, Soledad V Pangilinan Arts Wing, Areté, Ateneo de Manila University.




Kababaihan sa Sining at Bagong Sibol na Kamalayan (KASIBULAN) was founded in 1987 by visual artists Imelda Cajipe-Endaya, Julie Lluch, Anna Fer, Sister Ida Bugayong, and Brenda Fajardo. Formed in the aftermath of the 1986 People Power Revolution, KASIBULAN aims to provide women artists a platform through which they can nurture their creativity, and raise awareness on the plight of women through social justice and women empowerment.
