Beyond Odalisques: 19^th Century Women Artists in the Philippines is a lecture that sheds light on artists that have been overlooked in history books, and on art loved and lost either to more prolific narratives, and to the rubble of post-WWII Manila.

Dr. Eloi Hernandez tackles institutions of the 19^th century and how definitions of art and acclaim contributed to who would be remembered as artists.

This program is part of Highlights a lecture series presented by the Ateneo Art Gallery and the Lopez Museum designed to bridge the narratives of traditional and contemporary art forms in the Philippine context.
