The art of fine print has a long history in the Southeast Asian heritage region, dating as far back as pre-colonial times. Contemporary printmakers continue to traverse through its traditional techniques and processes as well as to expand the forms and contexts of this graphic medium. Malaysian printmaker Juhari Said proposes the session title, “Expanded Printmaking”, a trajectory which he and colleagues in the region have pursued for over a decade. Together with Filipino printmaker Ambie Abaño, they will discuss how artists have expanded the ways in which printing techniques or the printed image are employed in visual art practice.

ArtFairPH/Talks features daily discussions presented in partnership with the Ateneo Art Gallery, Museum Foundation of the Philippines, and the international publication, ArtReview. Art Fair Philippines 2021 runs from 6-15 May 2021.
