Join The Mighty Bhutens for a two-day Mosaic Bench Workshop at the Ateneo Art Gallery this June 27 to 28 (Friday - Saturday)!

Facilitated by The Mighty Bhutens, a collective established in 2002 by artists Kabunyan de Guia, Guiller Lagac, and Oliver Olivete, the two-day workshop aims to create functional art sculptures in the form of benches, to be installed in the Areté premises. Participants will learn the basics of mosaic-making using tiles and ceramics, and will work with the artists in creating the elements to be featured on the benches.

The Mighty Bhutens are a playful bunch and a dynamic, inseparable force, breaking tiles and telling each other jokes for over two decades. The collective is composed of artists Kabunyan de Guia, whose works explore themes of identity and cultural narratives; Guiller Lagac, known for blending traditional patterns with contemporary elements; and Oliver Olivete, whose works examine the interplay of objects as medium and their translation into objects that transcend the conception of an ornament.

Consistent with their distinct, playful style, this group of artists can be found everywhere, from dirty street allies to museums and posh neighborhoods. The Mighty Bhutens have the capacity to break the mold of stereotypes, engaging in any norm of society. Whether they are facilitating workshops or creating a new work, these three friends always seem to be having fun.
